worried about my son
My son is 8 I am concerned he has ocd.He hates eating with people especially if they have a spot,if they are babies if there is a crumb even pictures put him off.He will not eat at school. He hates the couch in our room because the cushions aren't always straight he gets really cross making people move just so he can put them right. His toys have to be in right order and if you play with him he tells you exactly what to do.If I go out without saying goodbye a certain way he gets very upset. He was crying yesterday he said why cant i get these things out of my head,He told me if he does something like exercises he has to count and do the came the opposite direction. He gets annoyed at school if pencils etc on floor if chairs aren't pushed in.He also hates and gets very upset if people dont follow the rules

Hi Dotty
Cognitive Behavioral therapy is really so beneficial in helping with OCD. Even thought your son is still so young, a caring experienced CBT therapist would IMHO be able to give him a foundation that will be so very helpful for him as he grows up my son started CBT aged 11 and it really helped him |
Thankyou for advice.I will look into it,thought he might be to young.

hi there, dotty.
I agree with Chemar, and it's really a good time to work with what might be developing there. It might be much better to address it now than later when more progressed and developed. Please let us know how it's going and good luck! KD |
School is bringing out alot of OCD tendencies in my son .He has also started blinking his eyes and head and neck twitch really badly it only started a couple of days ago but is getting really bad.I dropped into opticians yesterday they had a quick look but said there was no infection.I have made an appointment Monday with specialist optician but I'm really worried about him.His eyes hurt he says, so i don't know if it is ticks or not.

I took my son to opticians they couldn't find a reason for his blinking, but it is getting worse along with the twitching.Does anybody know if child is aware of blinking and eyes hurting if it could be tics.
|
if you suspect tics a neurologist or a developmental pediatrician may be the best to diagnose that.
many things can cause eye blinking and/or tics and so it's worth checking with a professional, especially for a child. Cheri |

I also agree with Chermar,I would make a appointment with Neurolist
for a child tell the nurse everything that's upsetting you and ask if he works with these problems, then follow throug. Also you might try a Ophthalmolist they are physicians MD who test eyes and check for all kinds of eye disorders, they even do sugery, which I don't think he needs. Please if ask same thing to his nurse if needed, Tell age make sure you tell them what's going on.tic's ect. If you have a friend that can go take them,I got nervous with my kids and fotgot thngs that just being a mom. I think I would try the Neurolist first,do what you feel better at. But he's not to young to go to these Dr's and do it as soon as you can. My son got great help when he was 2 at the Ophthalmolist..I found rasing 3 children we panic with or Children and just forget theres help in the medical flield..Talk to Neurotalk and friends but get professional help. Please let us know how your doing and good luck.. prayers and hugs Sue |
Thankyou for the replies.
I took my son to doctors yesterday he was very nice we were in with him for 45 minutes. He is sure he has ocd.He told me not to worry about the blinking and twitching and see how it goes.My son has been to two opticians in the last week one because he wears coloured glasses and the other to look in eye to check if he had an infection.Do you think I should take doctors advice and not worry or should I seek neurolist. My son has been really upset at school for the last couple of months and has hard time with his colour'his dad is black african and i'm white english. The last thing he needs is to have children ask why his blinking or make fun of him. Last night all he wanted to do was die. What should I do I also am getting very down about things .I have parkinsons disease and at moment shaking alot more etc.I'm really feeling for my son. |
Dotty
at least a visit to a neurologist will hopefully set your mind at rest so if it were me I would go to see one. Eye blinking can be caused by many things and a specialist will be able to give better insight into this. We can offer support and shared experiences here, but only a qualified physician can give a qualified opinion on this |
