Hi arthurajm,

It can be normal to have a tight feeling in a surgical area after the stitches come out. This is usually do to some inflammation. The concerns are..... is there any swelling, fever and/or pain? If the answer is no to all of those things then it could be that you have some plaque accumulated in that area which could be irritating the gum tissue. Have you been rinsing several times a day with warm salt water? It is imperative to do this rinsing at least 4 times a day, especially before you go to sleep at night for at least 4 weeks to keep the surgical sites clean.

Did this information help you or do you still have unanswered concerns?

Bryanna

thanks, well its not a constant pain but if i smile or stretch that area it feels as if its tugging a lil that the only time i feel any pain it pusses a little but it was a tuff extraction the first set of stitches she put in didnt hold so i had to go back later that nioght....and get more stitches so it wasnt fun how long does the tight feeling last?? thank you again bryanna

Hi arthurjm,

Did you say there is a little pus in that area? Here is your quote..<<it pusses a little>>>

Pus is a definite sign of infection. So if that is what you meant, then you need to see your dentist very soon.

Are you rinsing with the warm salt water several times a day?

Bryanna
