Botox Injections

Saw my neuro recently and he mentioned that one of the other neurologists in the practice could give me botox injections in my dystonic toes that curl up and are a major source of discomfort. He thought the relief could last 3-6 months but was not sure. Anyone have any knowledge, experience or an idea what the downside could be?

Eric, I've been getting Botox treatments in my neck and shoulders for dystonia. I've had no adverse side effects and it works ok, but not great. It usually takes about a week for it to start having an effect, and during that time, for me, the stiffness gets worse. Then it starts to get better and lasts about three months. I don't think you're allowed to get treated more than once every three months. I personally would see little risk to using it in your feet. I also have left foot dystonia but haven't been treated there. A small amount of C/L (one half of a tablet) controls that for me.

Good luck,

Gary

For about a year now. I get treated at Mt. Sinai/Beth Israel in NYC.

I'm closer to the shore in Marlboro.
