My buddy needs prayers

I can't even think what to say right now except please pray for my buddy Benton. He's still in the vet ICU and not doing well. He has toxic uremia from not being able to urinate and they're pumping him with ABs and fluids and he still has a catheter in because they haven't dislodged the blockage. All these crystals have built up in his bladder and urethra and he's not putting out. I went there yesterday, this morning on my way to work and lunch time and he doesn't even stir when I come in. He's just lying there with all these tubes in and the IVs in his little paws. They said he's on sedatives to try and relax his bladder but I know if he could he'd look at me and start purring. They said they want to operate and give him a female opening so this doesn't happen again but he's too weak. He's got to get stronger to have a chance. I can't lose him, he's been through so much with me and he's always there, no questions asked. Please God don't take him away from me. I'm going there now and hopefully they'll be some sign of improvement. There just has to be.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I know Benton is special to you and it is hard to see him so sick and fearful for his future.

I add my prayers and know that he is God's hands.

Oh, I hate to hear this. My own cat had a similar problem but it was caught before it got too advanced. It's hard to catch things like this because more often than not we don't know anything is wrong until it's really far along. Apparently this is not uncommon in male cats - Tigger had crystals, too.

Since Tigger has had this problem I've been feeding him Royal Canon Urinary SO dry cat food and that has solved the problem. You have to have a prescription for it - and your vet will tell you if it's appropriate for your cat - but it has been a blessing for me. It's expensive - $20 for a 5# bag - but it's worth it if it keeps him from suffering through this again. I can pay a little more now or a LOT more later in vet bills. Ask your vet about it!

I'm praying for Benton - I'm sure he'll be just as good as new before you know it. Please keep us updated on his progress. :hug:

I can feel all the prayers in my heart and thank you all from the bottom of my heart :grouphug:

The vet just called and his BUN and creatinine are really high and they fear kidney failure. I don't know what else I can do. I've been praying to St. Francis of Assisi all morning, just hoping for good news. He has to keep fighting. But I don't want him to suffer. I'm hoping and praying that whatever needs to be done will be done.

This is one of my favorite songs at my church and Benton you've given me such joy, faith, hope and light. :hug: Hang in there buddy.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
