Hello everyone

Hi everybody:

My name is Mike and I came across this site while searching for information on TBI and am very glad to have done so.

I was a healthy, average guy until 2008 when I deployed to Iraq with the United States Air Force. I was injured during a mortar / rocket attack on base and the resulting injuries were severe and frequent migraine headaches, 3 herniated discs in my lower back, and numbness/ weakness in both legs. i was also diagnosed with mid TBI.

Then in February of 2013 I was assaulted, ironically while at a VA hospital when trying to schedule a neurology appointment. The result was a severe TBI with LOTS of secondary issues including vision issues with my right eye and a right brachial plexus injury.

To make this short, I have undergone LOTS of therapy and rehab but am still coping with the residuals. I hope this forum / board will provide me some insight and help from others who have experienced similar circumstances.

Just wanted to say Welcome to NT and so glad you found the site. I can't help you with the TBI but I know others will follow with helpful posts. I have small fiber neuropathy.

I too want to thank you for everything you've done for our country. Bless You. I'm an Air Force brat (in every sense of the word !) and have a huge appreciation for our men in uniform. My dad served in Nam from 70 to 71, came home for a year and dang if they didn't send him back to Thailand for a year. He had no physical injuries but the mental were just as bad or worse.

Take care and I hope you find a lot of good friends here....these are some very warm and caring folks.

Debi from Georgia

Dear Mike, I want to thank you from my heart for your service in the Air Force to keep us safe. I'm sorry for your health issues but you have come to the right place for support, and to make new friends.....God bless!

Welcome Mike....Thanks for your service. You have been thru so much. I do hope you find help here as well. Use the search at the top of the page and advanced search to zero in on specifics.

I keep rereading your post to make sure I got it right...you were injured with more TBI while at the VA!?!?! It seems unthinkable. I am so sorry.

Do scan the various forums to see which ones seem to help you most and do post with specific questions. I think you find everyone quite helpful.
Take care, Diandra
