Winged Scapula-Pain from dorsal scapular nerve damage
Hi everyone,
i am a 28 year male and am having constant pain in my shoulder, and in my rhomboid muscle and some pain on my neck also for the past two years. the pain in the shoulder started two years ago during a bench press which went hay wire, when all the weight shifted to my right hand causing it to bend inwards. since then i have been to countles doctors and physiotherapists. their usual advice was to rest my shoulder and use anti inflammatories, and that with enough time it the pain in my shoulder will subside. the last doctor i went to noticed that i had a winging in my right scapula, he immediately suggested and EMG and unfortunately the test came positive for damage in the dorsal scapular nerve that ennervates the rhomboid muscle. the neuorologist suggested that healing will not happen due to the length of time that has passed and he suggested i do light strengthening exercises of the rhomboid, although he clearly stated that i will never get the muscle to a 100% working capability. i was wondering as if whether any of you have any advice as i am aware that most of the information on the internet deals with thoracic nerve injuries, and i am having trouble finding good advice with regards to my injury. more specifically, how can i deal with this daily pain? what exercises can i do and will they help reduce the pain eventually? are there any surgeries that can be performed to succesfully deal with this problem? has anyone here been inflicted with this very rare injury who can share his story with, and hopefully some good advice? |

i know that floating scap feeling it's awful
getting your shoulder to work correctly is so hard. ive been trying for a year now |
