New pain and Dr not helping

Hello,

I've posted before about this awful herniated disc in my neck and after having a steroid injection had more problems.

The numbness is still across my left ankle and above my left knee and now my lower back, even though I've always had a little pain there, it is now awful.

If the horrendous pain I've had in my neck, left shoulder and left arm has not been enough I now have this problem going on.

Will say the pain in my neck is better by about 70% now but that's if I basically don't move as anything flares it up.

I changed Dr's recently as my old one dismissed everything I was saying, I always said how awful the pain was in my neck and shoulder but nothing was done until I literally begged for an MRI.

I have obtained a copy of my medical records and am beyond annoyed, the old Dr has basically written nothing about my pain, no reference to any of my therapy, I had PT, OT and vestibular therapy after a car accident, problems were found with my eyes, had a severe concussion, now having possible seizures and none of this has been recorded.

Thing is, my Medpay car insurance are going to see these records and I am so worried they are not going to pay the bills, my Dr also basically lied saying I had not gone to pick a TEN's machine up which would have helped with my pain, absolutely not true, it was not mentioned to me until 3 months after my PT suggested it so my Dr is covering herself, I feel all this can go against me.

I mentioned the pain in my upper back and lower back several times and that's not in there either, the Dr actually sent me for an MRI and said yes, your whole back with be viewed, low and behold, no...only the thoracic area was done.

I don't know...I feel as if I'd have had good care last year somethings could have been caught and treated properly. I feel I'm going to have to fight the car insurance folks and it's getting me down.

I have a rotator cuff injury, cannot lay on my left side as the pain becomes unbearable, my Dr just dismissed it even though it clearly shows problems on an MRI, fluid etc.

I asked to perhaps see a specialist and was told abruptly I did not need to see anyone.

I do have an appt to see my new Dr tomorrow and will ask for an MRI of my lower back, I dread asking.

PT was flaring everything up so she suggested trying dry acupuncture for my neck and I have 4 appts for that.

Guess I'm venting here, sorry this is long but I am at my whits end and worried about all of this.

What is going on with my lower back and left ankle and knee?? so frustrated.

I believe you
I too happened to me
My surgeon lied about a serious matter
that happened after my first surgery
Keep strong
Log everything
Copies of everything

Wow, that doc  :(
I got some of my records once and they were not very legible or concise either:(

I would make your own notes per date as best you can recall.
I'd be curious how his billing was coded, maybe the codes covered what some of the appts were for.. That should be on the billing statements.

Have you considered an expert chiropractor, perhaps you have some misalignments from the MVA?
Sometimes a good one can help more than MDs or PTs..
Some also do PT type modalities like ultrasound, IF stim, massage, triggerpoint work, and some have soft lasers..

I had the worst experience of my life at University of WA pain clinic.

Ended up putting me in more pain than I was in when I got there. Also ruined my reputation by labeling me as an addict because I said **** you to the nurse who told me to give up oxycontin and see a psychologist.

She wrote a bunch of nasty stuff in my records, then when I went back to my neurologist who referred me there, he looked up what she said when I told him, and then told me he wasn't comfortable treating me anymore. (after 2 years with him) and stopped giving me oxycontin I've been on for more than a year. Still going through the withdrawal from stopping last weekend.

Hi shindig

Seems to me there are many of us that had a bad doctor along the way. Some inflict terrible damage, some lie to cover their butts. What we have to do is stand up to it. when you go to your new doctor and he or she questions why there was a verbal exchange, I would speak up and tell him, that you have been ignored and dropped by another doctor. Someone will have compassion and listen. Until you do find that compassionate doctor, keep right on looking. It took me 6 years to find the crew (3) I have. Never been so confident before and have a better outlook. A good doctor helps both physically and mentally. You can't have one without the other. We are a mind body connection, a spirit housed in a very painful body sometimes. Pain makes you short with people, it chances your personality, chases away friends. The doctor who treats us must have some insight to both pain and the emotional toll it takes. With a good doctor there is hope, and that is what makes all the difference. I wish all of us and you shindig, all my good wishes. ginnie:grouphug:

So sorry to hear! It's very important to make sure all records are created and kept, and I can't believe this has happened! My pain doc dictates the entire appointment on a voice recorder which is later typed up and available at anytime.. I think regulations should be more strict on the recording of appointments! Good luck to you and I hope it works for the best. Hard to imagine the insensitivity of those who spend their lives caring for humans...
