Maybe the Sun really will shine

Hi all,

Over the past week I have been hearing some things that have been leading me to believe that my name was still on a lot of things from my marriage to my deceased husband. If that is the case, I will be coming into a pile of money. Because of the way things are with my family, I plan on making up a will, just in case, and making sure not one red cent goes to anyone in my family. I also know this will eat up my in-laws to no end if I get any money out of my husband's death and they don't or just get the house.

Barb

I find this a very heart warming thing if your ex husband left things so that you would stand to inherit them. I believe he did this because he still
loved you. And wanted you to get these things. And he wanted to take
care of you in some way after he was gone.

I also believe that god sometimes, intervene's in some odd way.

So I'm so happy to read this thread. Will be so happy to see updates
from you if they are good.

Good Luck!

Hey,

good luck with this! Have you been in touch with Rook's estate administrator or whatever they call the official lawyer ppl that are handling his will or administering the inheritance?

Just wondering if there is a way you can get precise, solid information from a reliable source - not hearsay. I would think you are entitled to the official information upon request.

Rook's neice is the executor of his estate and that could be because he appointed her or because his family appointed her. There is not a chance in the world she would talk to me as they all hate my guts.

Is it a good thing that she is the executor or bad? I wasn't sure. But you make a good point about wills and stuff. I have been trying to get Todd to make a living will with me. But as usual, he won't. We have a spoken thing about how we want things to do, but everything is best on paper.

Hi Wendy,

It would be bad for me for my husband's neice to be the excutor as she would do anthing she could underhanded to cheap me out of anything.

Maybe you need to talk with a lawyer or check some legal type websites - as executor she must do the correct thing.
But if no one is watching over her shoulder ....

But I wouldn't tell anyone { lawyers or anyone really} about any amount of money that you might be in line for. Lots of people will be a friend or say they can help just to get a piece of the pie.

Just say you want to know if you have any legal rights to find out what is in his will.
Just in case he left you something since you had been married for X amount of years previously.

and maybe ask" how do they know an executor is following the directive of the will?" who oversees that?"

There has to be some sort of way to check on this and there has to be some way to make sure the will is being handled correctly.

do you know the names of any lawyer he might have used??
you could call the offices and ask if they handled legal affairs for him?
Especially if in a smaller city or town...

I thought {in the movies anyway} they usually have all the family and do a reading of the will - but maybe that is just in the movies...

Hi Jo,

Those are some key important questions to have answered. My lawyer did say to give it 2 weeks before contacting anyone again. She had faxed a letter to my husband's attorney a weel ago.
