Mri normal so what's wrong with me?

Three years ago I was diagnosed with a bulging disk and arthritis in my lower lumbar, I had pt and an injection and never had anymore real problems with it. Until last week, I have gained 20 pounds due to my thyroid not working properly, and my back was hurting so bad I could Hardly walk, I go to my family doctor who gives me a steroid shot along with tordol and it helped tremendously, except the awful headache I had the next day. Also the next day I had an mri, the results came back normal. No I wasn't hurting the next day and was so happy about that, but I know something is not right, so I am having my previous Mri sent to my doctor to compare. Can this new Mri be wrong due to the steroid/tordol shot minimizing the inflammation and pain?
