α-synuclein and the gut

Good find, kiwi33. I've been on the lookout for other articles like this concerning the Stolzenberg et al. paper that Tupelo3 brought to our attention last week.
https://www.neurotalk.org/parkinson-...-response.html What I found most interesting in the "Science" article was the statement from academic David Beckham that "the current study doesn’t do enough to show that it is a cause and not an effect of inflammation". The researchers certainly thought that they had done enough! There is also an article on the AlzForum website. It includes (at the bottom) an interesting comment from an independent academic, and a response from Michael Zasloff (research leader). Put ’Em Up: Does α-Synuclein Help Fight Microbes in the Gut? | ALZFORUM I'm expecting the SoPD blog to cover this paper as well, sometime in the near future. |
It is the same study

Yes, it's the same study. I should have used the term "write-up" rather than "article" to make that a bit clearer.
The main point I was making is that major research papers/studies usually have several write-ups (on different websites), and it's often enlightening to read different write-ups of the same research paper/study. I gave the example of the comment from academic David Beckham, where he challenges one of the major claims of the Stolzenberg et al. research paper/study. I think that this is a significant challenge, from a credible source. |
