A siri surrogate for Windows

Many of you have heard us bragging about our Iphone 4s with its assistant, and how wonderful it is. A friend found a sorta similar thing for Windows. its Called Mitini.

I downloaded it, and I am still playing with it, so I dont know all the details yet, but if your box is the top box. If you type into it "play music" or "play Al Green" she will. On siri for the iphone when you touch the center button, you speak to her and she follows commands like "send an email to my mom" (i will have to hook up a microphone and see how she works) I have not gotten that button to work yet. Then the bottom box is her command box, where she writes and speaks her reply to you. "adele rolling in the deep now playing" kinda deal.

Have fun playing with it.

Do they have something similar for regular Mac computers? I would really love it if my iMac had a Siri in it. It would make sending tweets a lot easier and faster if I didnt have to type them.

Plus, writing out my crochet patterns would be more fun.

I dont know about MAc, a friend passed along the PC one. You could try to google it.

The new ipad has a siri thing in it. love it! I think I will get that one.

Do they make a male assistant? I miss telling a man what to do!!

I did look it up. Apparently there's nothing out there yet that's like Siri for the regular Mac computers. There's Dragon Naturally Speaking, but from what I read it's more for using with the Mac version of Microsoft Word and not something that's integrated to work with the whole computer. (might be wrong about that)

About 10yrs ago when I was taking some computer classes, I had to do a paper on assistive technology. All I could find back then was the basic voice recognition software that came with Windows computers. (didnt have a Mac at the time and I wasnt going to spend the $700 to buy the fancy professional programs just to do a paper) I had fun trying to use my voice to show people in the class how to format a document and how to do Power Point slideshows with your voice, but it was a clunky program. Sometimes I had to either repeat what I said repeatedly, or I had to help things along with my computer mouse. My teacher was kind of impressed that I'd played with the program that much. She said she didnt realize it was that basic, or that it did as much as it did.

My dad just informed me that he's going to buy himself the iPad 3. If he's doing that, I'm going to ask him to get me an iPhone with Siri for my b-day. (my current phone is relatively new, but it's not working right, screen keeps losing power or something. Going to see if my phone carrier will let me switch)

I wish my iPad2 had a Siri in it...Apple should enable it for the iPads!

I think I am going to treat myself to that IPAD3. I waited on the ipad one when they first came out, but I am loving the upgrades. this one seems worth the money.

I read that Siri is not included in the IPAD 3.. I think I'd try the Kindel Fire first. A heck of a lot cheaper.:)

the Kindle Fire is great. I have one, but I find myself using my iPad2 more often.

Nice thing about the Fire is that it's more portable, so when I go out and want to take a Kindle with me, I'll take the Fire if I know I'm going somewhere that has free wifi (I have 2 older e-ink versions too) The Fire would be better if they'd put more memory into it. Think it has 8gb, but something like 3 of those gigabytes is for the operating system. Really think Amazon should have put an SD slot into the Fire. Then it'd be perfect.

I also think Apple should have SD slots too. Wish these companies would add expandable memory. (think Asus or Acer did in their tablets...but those arent as good as iPads) At least the iPad has an attachment you can buy so you can attach camera cards to it to clear off a regular digital camera.

My dad has a huge jar of change. We're going to take it to the bank to get it counted. He's hoping he has at least $300 towards his iPad3 in that
