ultrasound or venogram?
 

i know i have pec minor syndrome but i am also worried about first rib/collar bone area

going to a vascualr doc again. i had a duplex something..measuring the pulse and blood pressure in my fingers and it came back normal. i read this is good for arteries and sounds liek itd be for more extreme tos than me

which test should i push for/would be more sensitive? venogram or ultrasound? thanks!!

im actually confused because it sounds like i already had the ultrasound, but wouldn't the put the ultrasound probe on your body? i dont remember that at all, i just remember the pulse/bp things on my fingers.

A venogram is the most sensitive, but an ultrasound gives you results right away and is all that is really necessary in most cases. It's also non-invasive.

What you got it sounds like was the pulse ox test. It is not completely accurate which is why many doctors just skip it entirely. I would recommend asking for the doppler ultrasound. That puts a probe near your collarbone while you move your arms in different ways. You'll know right away if you have any arterial or venous TOS. Neurogenic can't really be tested for with any degree of certainty.

Thanks for clearing that up. It didnt seem like a sensitive test to me. I had to beg to be tested. The doctor was a jerk


I def have n pec minor tos
My arms swelled up after exercising (overhead exercises) and that's when all my hands went numb. They didn't change colors tho

I wish I could go in now to get my vascular test or the pec minor block. I'm super tight right now and stretching isn't helping which is weird.

Numbness usually comes from nerve compression. But swelling could have some vascular component. Worth getting the doppler ultrasound done with different positions of the neck and arms.
Also the pect minor tightness could be treated with therapy. Have you tried a CFMT from the www.instituteofphysicalart.com ? I see two in GA. They are so worth the visit even if you have to travel a bit. Just try one out if you haven't done so already.
I have had two CFMT's work on me and my pect minor tightness has dissappeared and now I can do many stretches that I could never do, so has my persistent elbow pain among other things :)

ive had a lot of manual work done

i think for my fingers to be numb constantly, for this long without spasming, its a bit more complicated. i am definitely going to try the pec minor block on my left side.

ive read people with ehlers danlos complain about their arms swelling too because their shoulders are so droopy/raynauds

but my episodes were soooooo bad, it must be the tos.
