Base of skull and neck problems

It's been 4 months since my whiplash and I'm still experiencing a very strange stiffness/pain on the left side of my upper neck almost inside under my skull. When I push my head back against something it's much worse. I get this strange radiating stiffness/pain up my neck then across the left side at the base of my skull. The pain certainly feels where my neck connects to my skull and radiates across sometimes to below my left ear. Sometimes when I get excited my neck seizes up. Strange.

I've seen an upper cervical chiro that helped somewhat but didn't help this problem. The closest thing that seemed to work temporarily was an acupuncture needle that when deep into the base up my skull.

2 Xrays both show no abnormalities. Is there any other treatment I could try to get at this problem. Is is worth trying a different chiro?

I would suggest a trained and skilled CranioSacral Therapist, an experienced massage therapist and continue with the upper cervical chiro too. If there are no abnormalities, then it may be very tight muscles that radiate trigger points to your ear.

I still have problems with some pain in the back of my head from my whiplash, it took months before I could even sleep with my head laying back on the pillow, had to sleep on the opposite side. I'm getting started on more treatments this week. CranioSacral helped me the most so far (and the massage too).

Good Luck!
