vertebral atery

i know the correct way to test for this is a ct scan

but i had a test..where they measured the pulse in my fingers with my head turned in different positions and it came back normal except mild positive on left side in extreme military position. would this mean my vertebral artery is mostly normal/functional

Do you get any of the sx listed on this chart?

The vertebral artery is in the neck and the way they test the blood flow in the vertebral arteries is a doppler study looking at blood flow to the head. They have you turn your head in specific positions for the test. The test you are describing above sounds like the doppler studies for TOS which looks at the artery and vein to the arm. This is different than the test looking at the vertebral arteries.

THANK you sheri

ugh, i really want to get my vertebral artery tested without needing a CT scan. yes i have the sx but i also have bad dysautononia. i really hated the vascular surgeon i went to but i get a huge discount going to him. not sure what to do. he thought i was crazy for thinking i have vascular issues. i actually had to demand the test.

altho if getting a novocain injection on my left side of my mouth relieved my neck pain i guess that would mean it's not vascular

the sx of whiplash describe me REALLY well but the injury happened two yrs ago

you don't need a CT scan to get a doppler study of the neck arteries (vertebral). It's a vascular study similar to the one you had done on the arms for TOS but they're looking specifically at the neck/head rather than the brachial plexus/arm.
