Autoimmune & Neuropathy

Hi all. I have been a member here for years, but not posted much. I am at a point where I am frustrated, confused, depressed and hurting.

I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy a few years ago. I have been seeing a rheumatologist in NYC who has diagnosed some type of autoimmune small vessel vasculitis. I am C-Anca - Proteinase- ANA positive. I am now on Immuran for the autoimmune, neurontin and cymbalta for the neuropathy. I am finding that my legs are very weak. I was always athletic, but now having trouble getting up. Walking is tough, I am afraid on stairs, it almost feels at times that I am unsure on my legs.

I have an appointment scheduled for December at the Columbia Neuropathy center.

Just wondering if anyone can help me in any way. Your input would be greatly appreciated. I don't like how my legs feel. I can't even get down on the floor to play with our new puppy.. nevermind trying to get up!!

Thanks

Hi,

First of all, it's a good thing that the rheumatologist caught the small vessel vasculitis. You don't say what type of AI you have, but Sjogren's Syndrome is one that causes small vessel vasculitis in some people.

Hope you get some answers and effective treatment for the legs problem when you see the docs at Columbia.

Best wishes,

Sheltiemom
