What do you tell potential employers

Hi everyone. Been really busy so haven't been on much. I really want to work. I was a dog groomer, really good at what I did. I cannot do that anymore since the RSD in my left hand/arm. I have the scs and much of the pain is quited but I still have swelling, some hypersensitivity, difficulty opening my fingers (started ot yesterday for that) and a really bad tremor. What do you tell people? If I am interviewed for a job what would/should and how do I explain my problems to them? I am still on meds (Lyrica, Cymbalta, Mobic plus asthma and allergy meds) and am forgetful and will forget words mid sentence or the right word. I really want life back but what do I do? I am on unemployment, have an A.A.S in early childhood education but don't see how I'll make the money I made before.

Potential Employers

Hi Patty, and congratulations on the quest to find employment once again. I, too, am embarked on that journey. Isn't it wondrous to feel well enough to give it a go again?

Under law, prospective employers cannot ASK whether you have physical issues, BUT if you would need reasonable accomodation in some way, you may certainly make disclosure. I, for instance, have a need to change position frequently, and need that to be understood, so I tell them what has occurred, the surgeries that made it possible to try again, and present the most positive attitude about rendering service to them that I possibly can BECAUSE I want to be well and truly considered for openings.

The more positive light in which you present yourself and your situation, the better interview you will successfully achieve. I wish and pray for you all of the best in your endeavor!!
