Are others having poroblems with IE 7 ? I finally got rid of it and back to IE 6.

I don't use IE so can't tell you from personal experience, but I have read of other people having buggy issues with the IE7. I don't think you're alone in going back to IE6. I think there's another post here about some bug fixes, but maybe that was a different forum.

I updated to IE7 recently and all I can say is :mad: I wish I hadnt and am strongly thinking of reinstalling IE6

wish I could always use FireFox, but for some reason it seems to glitch with some of my business related sited

It really stinks.

i gave up on using it. just stick with the browser from my isp.

I've installed IE7 with no problems,not used it much as my default browser is Firefox.

I had been sorry I updated to IE7, it would hang up my computer:mad:

Yesterday my husband called Microsoft and spent a couple of hours talking with a very helpful person and now IE7 is working great.

Husband installed IE7 on my PC the day it was available. I used it maybe a day and a half then decided I didn't own a PC and turned it off.

Husband made some modifications and eliminated some IE7 stuff..... it's bearable now.

my problem...
 

was that IE 7.0 installed a duplicate .dll file on my computer ---which I already had, and then the two started a conflict/fight with each other.

At first it slowed me down, then it froze me (over two days), then it took
my whole DSL down and I could not get on the internet. The fix is on the other thread here, and involves "renaming" the older .dll file so the newer one will work.

I haven't used IE 7.0 at all. It is now just sitting there. We use Firefox.

Now I am afraid of it...I have read so much about it lately.:(

My son helped me fix this problem--and fortunately I was getting error
messages so he could figure it out. For people who do not get a box with
an error in it, you would have a huge problem, like Snoopy, I guess!:rolleyes:
My error message only came up on reboot. And we don't reboot every day.

My husband was miffed at me-- said why did you click on that update reminder!!! yada yada. My son tells me always update...so there I was in the middle trying to do my best...and bingo, we had a huge problem.:rolleyes:
But I DID update my Windows media player recently and that is VERY nice...
so not all of them have the dreaded bugs! :p

In the end my son suggests for what it is worth, that you still get the upgrade. He thinks there are Microsoft things in it that work with XP security wise. So that might be important. But we don't use IE at all anymore, and Firefox 2.0 seems to work with just about every website I go to. The only thing it won't do is the Yahoo Page Builder at their free Geocities site. (page builder is a pop-up program, and Firefox blocks pop-ups.)

I like IE 7, they did this to compete with Firefox.

I like Firefox also, but it doesn't always work with all the websites that I need to use, thus having IE as backup is a good idea.

IE 7 is more like Firefox in that its tabs are up, not down.
You have more "new pages" vs tabs taking up spaces at the bottom

but I think most people don't "update" their XP, that could be where the problems come in...

try updating your XP to the latest updates(SP1 and SP2, and I think it is up to SP4 depending...)

then install the IE7

but always make sure you export your favorites as a backup plan

to export favorites:

goto: File>>>import/export>>>next>>>export favorites>>>Select your folder(just keep it as it is and click NEXT)>>>save it to somewhere you can find it, I usually save it to my desktop but save it wherever you'd like

to bring it back, you do the same thing, but import instead

if you ever have to reinstall your computer and are afraid to lose your favorites, keeping your export favorites handy can save you a lot of troubles

you can also save it to a flash drive and import it to everywhere you'd like, laptops, desktops, friends' puter that you are visiting(just make sure you delete it afterwards as a courtesy)
