Mattress Madness!!

I need a new mattress.

I've been looking online and there are so many to choose from. I found a Serta that I like but here's my question.

What if I purchased a high quality mattress topper (memory foam 4" topper) and tried that out on my existing mattress?

I found a nice one for $139.....much less expensive than the mattress will cost me.

Has anyone here done this? Or have a suggestion for a good mattress?

If I have to spend the money then so be it but I'm just trying to avoid it if at all possible.

If your mattress just has lost the comfy feeling, a good 3" to 4" topper (gel/memory foam type) should do fine.
But if there is any sagging it won’t fix that..

I got a 3" gel /memory foam for our water-bed, it saves on the waterbed heating and greatly reduced any pressure spots.

We have a firm mattress (for DH's back) and a 4 inch foam mattress topper on that for our hips. We both love it but others complain (in their own beds, not mine!!) of heat retention. But if the sun isn't beating on me I get cold!

They provided me with an air mattress here at the home and it is great.
Much more comfortable than their regular mattress.:)

I have a small bed sore which is getting better because of it

My bed is a King size. Waaay too much room for me but buying a new bedroom set seems frivolous.

Plus I have the King size sheets, etc. and those aren't cheap!

I found a memory foam topper on Amazon for $89 with great reviews. I'll probably get it but am just waiting my standard 24 hours before purchasing anything over $75!! :o

We have used a memory foam topper, for several years, with success. I think it works well for some people.

However, if you are the only one to use it, it might slip around, when you get up. It is heavy (and a King size would be even heavier, than a Queen, which we have). So pulling it back into position may be more than you can handle, Kitty. So think about that.;)

I was planning on putting it underneath the fitted sheet. I think that might help keep it in place.

If it doesn't work well or won't stay in place I'll order the mattress. You're right.....I can't be constantly repositioning it.

If it does slip you can use a textured sheet, blanket or even a bath towel under it and then the fitted sheet on top.
With fitted sheets I don't think it will move around much at all.

To me the memory foam makes it hard to roll over

Will you have to buy different fitted sheets like extra depth? Now me, I LOVE my sleep number!!!! My husband and I don't sleep together and I have a double bed size and have just the basic kind. But I love it. Oddly enough, my sister, her husband, my brother and my other brother with his wife all have sleep numbers and we all use the same number.
