New to this!!!

I am new here......'been over on the Peripheral Neuropathy board 'cause I was diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy in July. Welp, this week I went to my THIRD neuro doc and he believes I have PD!!!! ( I asked my 1st neuro doc if I might have PD and she said"no, if you had PD your eyes would blink very fast"........say WHAAAAAAT?...she tell me this as she's performing an EMG/NC test on me!!!!!!). My 2nd neuro doc went off the 1st doc's notes and told me I have anxiety!!!
Oh Lord, this year has been a nightmare. In July of 2014 I was told I have interstitial cystitis....an incurable bladder disease...I was in a car accident August 30th 2014 and broke my wrist ....10 days after wrist surgery all hell broke loose. I have this feeling inside me like someone is shaking me. My left groin started seizing up. I started having trouble walking .....noticed my left arm wasn't swinging. I can NEVER get comfortable and I can NOT fall asleep.
I started on Levidopa Thursday and they took blood to rule out some things. I'm having a brain MRI on Monday. Help! Any advice?

KateKline welcome to this forum.

You write that one of your doctors said that "if you had PD your eyes would blink very fast". This surprises me. PD is usually associated with a slow blink rate.

You mention being put on levodopa. It is not a definitive test, but people with PD usually respond quickly (within a hour) to therapeutic levels of levodopa (a dose of between 50 and 100mg).

Good luck with your tests.

That drs comment on blinking was very odd...

[ Has your handwriting suddenly gotten much smaller than in it was in the past? ... blank stare or do not blink your eyes very often, you should ask your doctor about Parkinson's disease.

My dad will say he feel quivery inside when his pills wear off.
His first issues were one leg not moving as well and not being able to flip food over on the barbecue.. turning the wrist over action was very limited.

Did you have xrays or spine MRIs after the accident, to check for spinal injuries?

Welcome to the forum KateKline,

Was any of these neuro docs movement disorder specialist? It is always better to consult one that is as they are specially trained to recognize and deal with Parkinson. Some of the regular neurologists have very little knowledge of PD.
When I went to regular doctor few years ago before my PD diagnoses I was also told that it was an anxiety. Latter on when my left hand was visibly shaking another doctor told me it was an essential tremor. I only wish it was.

I am on 100mg of C/L a day building up to 200. I think it helps but I'm having major nausea problems. Don't know if it's that or Ambien. I just started the Ambien because Lunesta quit working for me.

My new neurologist is not a movement disorders specialist. Not that I know of. I guess I should ask! I was referred to the University of Colorado movement disorders clinic by my first neuro doc. I called them twice and the second time they said "you don't call us, we call you!" And they never called. Apparently my case didn't "pass" their review process. ???????? Yeash

I did not have X-rays after the accident. Had cat scan since. Showed nothing. I just had a brain MRI on Monday.....haven't heard anything. Soooooo over all this!
