Negative Lip Biopsy???
Hello people, just wanting to throw my minor salivary lip biopsy report out here to see if anyone had similiar results and to ask if anyone knows if minor inflammation is normal in a gland without it being autoimmune problem?
This biopsy contains seromucinous acini of a minor salivary gland with only a scant lymphocytic infiltrate. Neutrophils and lymphoepithelial islands are absent(assuming this means lesions?). The amount of inflammation is below the usual diagnostic threshold to confirm Sjogren's Syndrome, or other systemic inflammatory conditions. Clinical correlation recommended. An ENT did the biopsy and it was read by a pathologist at the hospital. ENT doc was not sure how to read the results because it mentioned some inflammation and normally it is a definite yes or no..she was confused. Any input? Thanks Mary |
