extra Avonex...

I don't know if I'm not supposed to post this here or not but I figured I'd give it a try.

I was switched to Tysabri and I still have 3 doses of Avonex in my fridge. It doesn't expire til July and I hate to throw away such expensive drugs. I aske the neuro what to do with it, she told me that I should ask people I know if they want it and if not bring it to her office staff.

If anyone can use it I'd be happy to pass it along. Thanks!!

That would be awesome for someone! I know my copay is nothing compared to what it could be. It did go from $50/month in 2008 to $100/mo in 2009 because Avonex is no longer on the Preferred Formulary. That's $600 more a year, so $1200. I know, I know.... at least I have insurance.

I never found out WHY Avonex was no longer on the Preferred Formulary.... anyone know?

That's why I offered it here, I figured there might be someone who can use it. I absolutely can't bring myself to throw away a med that costs so much, especially when I was SO lucky to have an extremely low co-pay on it. My co-pay was only $11 a month, can't beat that.

I really hope to find someone who wants it!

Wow you really were fortunate with your copay!

Caution and safety is a big concern with all meds.

If it needs to be refrigerated???
A local connection might be the best way to go..

Yep, it's in the fridge. It can be out of the fridge for a week so it would be safe to send it. It's never been un-refrigerated. (is that a word? LOL!)

I took it to the doctors office today. They'll give it to someone who can use it, I'm sure.
