just got diagnosed

hi, my name is beth I was recently diagnosed with RSD of both legs. I am 33 mother of 2 and recently had back surgery in sept 2006. I've found myself totally consumed with every new symptom and my body image sucks. I was doing great 10 weeks post op and then one day I did acouple bending lifting sort of things and could barely move my legs the next day. I called my surgeon who ordered a new Mri and told me to take the Percocet (all the pain meds which I had gotten off!). It didn't seem to matter what I took, what I did or what I didn't do there was no relief, sleep, or happiness to be had. My life took a whole new direction. I now became a problem with ongoing pain, unable to be fixed, the surgeons didn't like me anymore. They treated me like a drug addict, acrazy person. I cried every day. Three months later I was referred to a pain management practice because my medications were "out of control". I thought I was crazy. I had asked for alternative non-narcotic meds and the surgeons would not try them and thet had no explanation for my skin mottling and unrelenting pain. The pain management doc looked at my legs and said "yes RSD". Is it to late? My skin has beem mottled with buttock pain since last may and no doc ever correlated the 2. I had RSD in my hand in 2003 and got rid of it secondary to an auto accident. Can someone please help me I'm lost. Thanks for reading my epic.

Bethp,
Welcome! I'm new to the boards as well - RSD, right leg, dx 8 years ago. You'll find a lot of really understanding people here, and a lot of really great information!

And it's never too late to get good treatment - just talk to some of the people here, and they'll tell you!

Best to you, and look forward to seeing you on the boards!

:) thank you for your response. just saw a really nice doc yesterday for aganglion block for March. He was nice to me. Nice goes a long way in my book. He gave me hope and also gave me some relief financially. I was a RN for 11 years. He said he would support me for ss benefits. Do you have similar problems? Are you having a good day? Let me know if you have any tips. By the way if you too have RSD he informed me to cancel my appointment with the famous Dr. Schwartzman-he said it's a gimmick just a ketamine coma that is a 50/50 shot. Beth
