Facial Pain

I have not been diagnosed with MS, but have had strange symptoms for a while and have posted on this forum before. I love the advice and information that everyone provides on this site.

I have finally gotten through a long bout of fatigue and leg pain/stiffness - probably 3 months long and feel pretty good. Today I notice, however, the left side of my face feels strange. Not numb or tingly, but stingy. Like I have a bit of a sunburn, but I don't have a sunburn. When I touch it is sensitive. I took some Advil a few hours ago, but it is still there.

I thought I had read before in a thread that someone has had this happen to them but can't locate it.

I have taken the suggestion of several people and started a journal of symptoms/problems - no matter how small so that I can take to my doctor when I see him again in 6 months. He is still insisting that everything I have been experiencing are arthritic changes in my neck or a pinched nerve.

I have had this happen to me after a flair of symptoms. its weird, and you just cant explain it, and people look at you like you have a unicorn horn, but its true! I felt sunburned. my skin was sensitive, and felt burned, and stretched. it did pass with some time, and patience, but was not nice while I had it.

It isn't too painful, it is more irritating. Thank goodness it is only in a 3" area on my face and nothing more!!

I've had that, too. It sounds like TN (trigeminal neuralgia). Mine went away as mysteriously as it appeared.....but it was painful while it lasted.

I've had that too, Ilocate, but it went away and never came back. I hope it does the same for you..

I get all types of weird, not always painful but definitely disconcerting feelings in my face and head.

I use to get quick little stings on my face. Very painful, but was gone as soon as it happened. It was before I knew I had ms. I thought something was biting me. But it happened too many times to have been that. So I'm pretty sure it was the ms.

The burning in the face is very painful. It hurts worse to lay my face on a pillow. I hope you get some relief soon!

Just since this morning it has gotten a bit worse. The pain is a bit stronger and has spread from my cheek into my scalp. I can also feel the "tightness" when I blink but only in the eye on that side. A cool cloth is helping somewhat - I hope this doesn't last long! Sometimes these things I feel make me think I am going crazy. I emailed my doctor and he said ibuprophen should help. It really didn't help at all.
