Is it possible to get off of Social Security.

I am supposed to have a phone interview to review my SS case. (I think. I got a letter in the mail..... I don't remember if I go somewhere or not. Not the point.)

Anyway.....

Lizard knows what I am talking about (sort of) unless she didn't know I was on SS... Can a person who is on it request to be let go of the program once they are financially comfortable to live completely free of Social Security.

Who knows, one of us may win a multi-millions lottery jackpot (HIGHLY unlikely, but we can dream. :)) Since comming into all that money, you probably woun't need SS anymore.

When I am financially comfortable living off the system, can I request to be unassigned to the program?

Maybe I woun't worry about this until that bridge is crossed.

:) (Here's to hoping.)

You have to stop SS if you have an income over the allowed amount. If social security finds out you have been recieving disability and working with out filing taxes and turning in your income. 1. you will have to pay that money back. 2. you could be charged if not and probably be fined but may also have jail time for defrauding the government.

You should have a SS case worker. Any income over 700. you have to tell them about. They deduct after that amount from your SS. After I think 6 months they will not give you SS. If you become disabled later you have to reapply.

It is hard for people to get help that are disabled. It is easy to go to work and get off of it. Call your case worker and go fill out the paper work showing you are not disabled.

Will do, thank you. I already knew I might have some paperwork.... Though, thank you for the rundown of the process. :)
