3 and 3/4s years old

My son who is the above was laying on a bed next to me pkaying with toys.

He grabbed my toe near a healing wound so it caught my attention and he said

"Dada, this is hurt"

Yes, Benjamin

"You feel better Dada"

Part of his healing idea was that I hug his Zurg toy. I was chastised for not patting him on the back with the hug, though I was already feeling better.

I know he knows I am sick (I occassionally carry him, though I shouldn't and our conversations about it general and circular)even at his age and as difficult as toddler tantrums can be (especially since my dsughter was the opposite) it melts my heart.

Here is hoping you can run with some of thet warmth if you need it.

I slouch with a sigh and stare at my feet. How could I have known that life would be so--bittersweet. Thanks for the picture Jon.

My Grandson, just over 2 years old, lives with me and already understands he cannot touch me and I cannot play with him.

I have held him once (as with my Granddaughter) for 2 minutes at his Baptism, for a posed photograph.

It is frightening how much their young minds absorb and understand.

Dave.

Hey Jon, you brought tear to my eye with that one. My son is also named Benjamin, although he just turned 21 and is going to be a senior in college. At least my kids were pretty much grown up before this started to happen to me.

Here's hoping that you have lot's more hugs and quality time ahead with your kids
