Are you getting a TENs mainly for pain blocking?
What about a combo TENS/IF unit?

[IF Combo combines Tens and Interferential to give you the best chance of treating patients that may need something stronger than a Tens unit.]

If you can afford it there's a IF/TENS combo unit that looks really nice.

I have an EMS and I wish I would have gotten an IF unit instead, but I didn't have a Amazon or Ebay account back then...:(

Interferential Stimulation, IF: This type of stimulation is characterized by the crossing of two electrical medium, independent frequencies that work together to effectively stimulate large impulse fibers. These frequencies interfere with the transmission of pain messages at the spinal cord level. for me personally im not sure. i know a combo of tens on my t spine, magnesium supplements (i was crticially low) and gentle stretching has helped

this arrived yesterday HUUUGE difference between the tens and the if!!

I also have a TENS, but i dont know where to exactly place the electrodes - do you guys place them near your thoracic outlet or on your arm?

Tip-
place electrodes on muscles - not bony areas.
