Good Morning America -gene therapy for PD w/patient on TV interview
|
I saw that. The patient felt as if his PD was almost gone. He looked so relaxed and content; it was great! The doctor said they were only allowed to work on one side of the brain, in case there was a bad outcome. Some people's positive results didn't last though, and they're looking into why.
The patient said he had to wait 6 months to see the benefit of the procedure. But he feels great, four years later. Just noticed that the video is on the ABC page. It's worth watching. |
This is Nathan Klein who was on the BBC as well ...
he looks great.
Follow this link for his now archived websit which contains a short journal plotting his progress, (this archive.org is great, try it!). http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.nathanklein.com Neil. |
The PD Society representative in th UK gave a very cautious welcome on the BBC , and emaphasised that further trials would be required over 3 - 5 years, and even then there would be no guarantee that it would be one fit-all solution.
But it does seem to provide some glimmer of hope |
