I really need your help here, re: watching videos online

Hi All:

If anyone can explain what has been happening to me, I'd dearly love to hear it.

I enjoy going to tvlinks.com to watch old tv series.

They have Seaquest on this site.

Many episodes.

All I do is click on the link, and the video window pops up, and I get to watch the whole episode. With no problems.

However, there are one or two links, and I will include this in this posting, well, when I click on the link, the video window pops up and instead of saying "loading". it has a little thing in the middle of the video window that says "buffering". It will do it's buffer thing for 10 seconds or so, then the video will pop up and start playing. Only it only plays for 30 seconds or so, then it starts doing the buffering thing again.

Here's the link to the video of Seaquest:

http://www.tv-links.co.uk/video/1/3491/5304/33151/50365

I do not understand this at all.

I can to go watch other stuff with no "buffering thing happening".

I have a dsl connection. Upgrated to the 1 mg thing on Verizon DSL, up from the 768 thing. I tested my speed online and everything is just fine.

I can upload photos to photobucket and it uploads in a second. So the dsl thing is working.

I know this could be a broadband thing going on but I have no idea why when I want to watch an episode of Seaquest, the "buffering" thing happens every 30 seconds. This is very annoying.

Here's the link to the video I was trying to watch. Someone try and watch this and tell me if you can watch enough of it to know that there is no "buffering" problem at your end. I just want to figure out if it's my bandwith or if the problem is at the site's end.

Thanks, Melody

I've got Verizon DSL winXP - Forefox browser - it worked fine for me.

it could be a setting on your machine or your browser?

look at control panel and browser settings - video properties/setting/options etc -

Can you walk me through this step by step.

I went to control panel and was completely clueless.

Thanks.

Hi
It has nothing to do with your computer. I am having trouble viewing SeaQuest, with a cable connection. It also buffers after 30 seconds.
The reason: This video comes from different sources, customer to customer and its quality varies.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stage6 has the best quality content.

You may want to d/l "Firefox" to view from TV links. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

I have "Firefox" on my computer, and IE 6.0. working on the same computer. There is a feature to import your favorites from IE 6.0.

The Guba programs are full length.

Okay, here's where I get confused.

I now have Verizon DSL and my home page is MSN .

On the top of my computer screen it says Windows Internet Explorer.

For example, now that I am on this website the top of my screen says:

NeuroTalk Communities - Reply to Topic - Windows Internet Explorer

So exactly what would Firefox do for me?

And after I download it, what do I do with it? and would I still have INternet Explorer?

Thanks for taking me through this step by step. I really appreciate this.

And I was able to view the episode of Seaquest when I kept trying. I didn't keep buffering it. So that's why I got so confused.

I didn't think it was my computer.

Thanks so much.
Melody

Internet Explorer is a browser. So is Firefox. So is Opera. Browsers, in a brief nutshell, are programs that let you view web pages.

After downloading Firefox, you can use it to view web pages just like you could with Internet Explorer. You can have both Internet Explorer and Firefox on your computer at the same time. When installing Firefox, it will ask you if you want to import things like your Favorites and Homepage so you get to keep all the web sites you have in your favorites list.

Internet Explorer is bundled into Windows, and was/is one of the reasons all that anti-trust legal action was taken against Microsoft.
