no one understands...

i find that no one understands me or what i've been through, how i feel. how do you all deal with these people? i was screamed at yesterday and told i was just a stupid, lazy drug-addicted *****... because i havent been able to work or go to school and ive tried medication after medication...

Sadly Annabelle, nobody understands this until they are forced to deal with it themselves. I gave up trying to explain to people as they just don't have a clue. I don't have any advice to offer you, but i personally wouldn't put up with someone screaming at me or calling me a drug addict. Thats ignorant! Do you have any local groups that can offer you support? If not an offshoot of TNA, any local chronic pain groups which meet? You may want to call your local hospitals and inquire as to whats available. Take care, EE

I am sorry you have to go through this. People are ignorant to this disease. I have learned not to talk to unsupportive people about my illness. It's none of their business. If they are significant others make them go with you to the doctor who will explain the disease to them. It is frustrating for them cause the want to help but do not know how. That however does not give them reason to treat you that way. Take good care of yourself and know we understand. Jen

this is the first support group i have learned of... what is TNA? i cant tell you how nice it is to finally have you all to understand me at least... priceless...

Read the stickies at the top of the forum. TNA is the trigeminal Neuralgia Association. Join it and you will get lots of info that is invaluable. Also order the book "Striking Back" from them. Jen

today they took my keys.. so i cant get to my appointments...

EE03 06-05-2007 05:37 PM

I'm sorry you can't get to your appointments, but if they took your keys, it could be that they felt you weren't able to safely drive and that is a good thing, if thats the case. Sometimes the obvious isn't so obvious.
