Adhd and recent concussion

HI I am searching for answers and hope to find some. My daughter has suffered from ADHD since 2nd grade she has been on adderall now and she is 12. She recently got a concussion a few months ago and since then she has started to really have more problems then normal in school. Forgetfulness is a huge issue!! things she learned before in school she can't remember how to do!! her grades are going downhill and I am about to pull my hair out. I don't know if this concussion could cause some of these problems and if this will be a longterm condition. The ADHD medication was working before but now it doesn't seem to be helping at all now. Please if you have any suggestions let me know. She will be going to her Dr. in a few weeks possibly to be released from the accident she was in but I am wondering if I should get a second opinion on this concussion issue if this might be the problem. Any responses will help me. Thanks

Hello staciem,

Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

A lot of the things you've described can happen after a concussion. If this is concussion related then her brain needs to rest.

You should ask over on the Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Concussion Syndrome Forum

There are a number of other parents of children/teens who have sustained a concussion and there is also a lot of excellent information in the "Sticky" threads at the top of the forum as well.

take care.
