My story

I have many of the sx for ms and have had most of them for about 10yrs. I haven't been dx with ms yet but I am in the process of it. I have seen one neurologist that I really liked but the problem was he was only a resident Dr and had to have everything approved by another Dr. SO tomorrow afternoon I will be meeting my new neurologist! I have made a list of all of my sx or anything weird that has went on with my body so I don't forget to mention it to the Dr thus giving me a better chance of being dx.

In 2003 I first started to experience urine retention. My pcp done a test with dye and found that there were no blockages or any leaking.

2005 I got pregnant with my youngest son and I started to have a lot of hip and low back pain. I didn't think too much of it with being pregnant.

2006 It was a few weeks after I had my son I had a muscle spasm (at the time I didn't know what it was) in the middle of my back hurt really bad. I went to the Dr and had Osteopathic Manipulation on my back. My PcP told me my hips were out of place and that was what was causing my pain. She said my hips were still trying to go back in place after having a baby.

From 2006-2012 I kept having manipulation done on my hips and back. I had seen several different Doctors and none of them could really tell me why they kept going out of place. A couple of them wanted to send me to PT but I refused since I was afraid it would cause me more pain.

Aug 26 2012 I woke up with a horrible cough and 2 days later I decided to go to the Dr. Turns out I had broncitus. That night my hips started hurting bad. I was trying to hold out on going to the ER. I somehow fell asleep that night. I just layed around the following day. That evening I ended up in the ER. I was in so much pain and tingling all over random parts of my body. It was one of the worst pains I have ever felt. They did x-rays and couldn't find anything. They gave me a shot of dilaudid and a viccodin. I was still hurting but I didn't tell them I was just ready to go home and go to sleep. I knew if I took anymore I wouldn't be able to walk out of there.

Jan 2013 I seen my first neuro. He poked me with his wooden q-tip all over my body. When he poked the areas that were tingling I couldn't feel it. I just started crying cause I knew something was wrong. He said he suspects MS.

Neuro done blood work, mri of brain and neck, and EMG. They all came back fine.

Before he scheduled the EMG We discussed the next step if the EMG would come back fine. He said that he would then do an LP. Well when it came back fine he had a different attitude. He wouldn't explain why he wouldn't do it. He wanted to put me on Gabapentin. I told him that I wouldn't take it because I have no nerve damage according to the EMG. I don't want to be a guinea pig and see if it MIGHT WORK. He said ok I think you need to go get a second opinion. So that is where I am at now.

April 2013 I believe I started having the ms hug. Heat started to bother me really bad.

My hip pain comes on without warning no matter what I am doing. I am in pain most days. I finally asked my dr for pain meds. He put me on percocet and is sending me to pain management clinic. I will be seeing a Rheumatologist on the 21st.

This is a very shorten version. If you got this far reading god bless you lol. I am not a very good writer. As the years go by I think it gets worse.

Your story sounds familiar Lil. So sorry you are in so much pain.
Percocet is great stuff, but not for long term, as it's very addictive.
Unless of course your pain is intense and constant.

I hope you get some answers as to what is causing your symptoms.
We are here for you and each other, so, Keep us informed.

Thank you. You are so sweet! Percocet works pretty good for me most of the time. I try to delay taking it as much as I can. If I think I can go without it I do. I know it can be very addicting. I am hoping when I go to the pain management dr they can give me something else that can help that isn't addictive. I hate taking any kind of medicine but my boys need me.

Sorry to hear about all that you have experienced. It must have been scary for you. I'm glad you are going for a second opinion. I hope they find the cause of what is going on with you. Let us know.
