$7 rules out best apartment

Good grief. $7 means I cant get into the nice apartment my daughter found. From here the options get harder and not good. Espcially with the short timeline I have. So I have a top approved amount of $508 for this type of apartment not $515 the cost of it. :Red eyes:

The utilities are the defining factor for the cap on this. If the place pays for untilities it goes down a chunk. Thank heaven my daughter is working this this year. EVen she cant beleive how complex Section 8 Housing is. A little sad about this apartment not working out.

I called legal aid to see if they can get me another 30 days to move giving more than just till May 1.

Will the apartment adjust their rent for you to get in? They have done that in the past for us. Worth asking. Our last place they lowered the rent thirty dollars so we could move in. I hope they work with you if it is one you really would be comfortable in.
It is truely getting harder and harder to find places that rent to section 8. I hope this still works out for you.

I am happy this happened for you. My daughter checked this out. She asked my Sec 8 worker and the complex. Sec 8 person said it was illegal for bluidling to do this. Building boss said no even tho my daughter had worked with the staff that showed her the aprtment. My daughter said she would be happy to pay it to get me in there. I live in Iowa and dont know if local regualtions could affect this.

There are 2 buildings right across the street from my grandkids day care. Veery near my kids. One is actually for handcap only. But when my daughter called to get on the waiting list they said it wasnt that long. Now this was a red flag for me in that it is new and when I checked 3 years ago they said there was a 4 year waiting list. So where did that go? Is something wrong there? It sure woujld be great to have my grandkids beable to come over that easy.

I hope it works out for you Anne, I think what you said was your daughter would offer to pay the balance between 508 and 515 correct?
It is sad that the US is such a great nation to run to everyone else's needs in the world and yet we turn a deaf ear to our own at home sometimes....
Good Luck young lady!

Regulations can be good and not good. AS I read this it reminded me of when the dentist told me if he knew I had medicaid he couldnt treat me unless he used it. This means if I for some reason had some cash like just now I got my rent reinbusement from the state, I cant get something done that I may well need and maybe an easier proceedure than what is cover because that is technically illegal. Same thing with a nice walker. The walker allowed by medicare would not work well in my apartment and awould be hard in some ways in using out in public. I asked if I could get another that was a little more they said no. The good and the bad of regulations. If I didnt get these forms of aid I would be in such a bad state and likely still not diagnosed so I have to take the bad with the good. this $7 dollar one is just getting to me alittle more. I am weary of relying on these agencies and their rules. I am weary of not being independent like I was most of my life. Making my own money. Their limits remind me of mine today.

Thank you for your concern.

It sounds strange. Anyone can rent their place for whatever price they want. Oh, unless maybe they are subsidized? But then they would be in the correct price bracket.
Did you get the extra allowance on section 8 for disabled? I imagine you did. That allows a little more as most handicap accessable are a little more.
It sure would be great to be where your grandkids could come anytime!! Mine is a few doors down, I love it!
Well, your attitude is good, we have no control over all this and you just go with the flow! Ha. We will just keep hoping you find the right place you can settle in and have all this moving behind you. That is alot of stress.
I look forward to hearing you found the perfect place and are settled and very happy with it.
