Hi Bob,

With things like accipuncture, you have to be really careful with the needles. Doctors usually don't like to do things like accipuncture as the needles can make the RSD worse and you should never inject directly into an RSD limb unless you absolutely have to.

When I was first diagnosed with RSD, my doctor did a nerve block directly into the affected limb and it made me a lot worse. I was left wheelchair bound and had to go onto an intense physical therapy program to learn how to walk again. At the time my dr did the nerve block, he didn't know that you should never inject into an RSD limb and it was only after I had the block and the complications started to happen that my mum found an article stating never to inject into an RSD limb and by that time, it was too late!

I think it's different for everyone. No two people with RSD are the same and that makes it difficult to determine what treatments will help you. I have heard from a few people that have had positive results from accipuncture but when we mentioned it to my dr, he said that he wouldn't try it because of my past injury.

If I was you, I'd do a lot of research before going ahead with any treatment. You know your body better than anyone else and no one can force you into doing something you don't want to!

I wish you the best of luck with whatever decision you make and please keep us posted!
