OT - Shoes - Rosebud

Hi Rosebud,

Having just read - again - about your shoe mania, I just have to ask: What size shoe do you wear?
,
I have one pair of shoes that I have worn daily for the past 5 years. They've been torn and mended but alas, the truth is they are disgusting - but I can't let go! I do have others but these particular shoes are the only ones that 'work' for me and I have not been able to replace them because they have been discontinued.

What I am looking for is the Minnetonka "Sport Slide" Sandal. Mine are suede and black. They slip on w/ out hands and stay on and weigh next to nothing. Divinely comfortable and practically slip/slide proof. I need an 8 or 8 1/2 but would consider cramming my foot into something a little smaller if available! I once found a pink pair on ebay but they were size 3....

This thread is only partly in jest - footwear is critical for me! And get this...I'm listening to NPR right now - a call-in show - and as I started typing this, they got a caller from Minnetonka Minnesota! so my hope that you can help me out with this just got a psychic boost!

Speaking of hope, enjoy the Hope COnference and give my regards to all NT forumites there. :)

Cheers, Ibby :o

wellll.....

I wear size 5-7 depending on style, country, maker etc. I can wear kids shoes 3.5- 4 and boys size 3. So I have quite a range. Try zappos.com and see what they have. They say if they can't get it, it's not available anymore. I've never actually ordered shoes on line. I'm a compulsive buyer and want to wear them right away. A friend said she ordered from them and they were pretty good.

You wore the same pair of shoes everyday for 5 years!!!!

Inconceivable.

zappos

I can only wear a certain type of shoe also. It has to be lace-up without any fancy airform soles because I need a significant lift put on it. The one shoe that always seems to work is the BORN brand. They are the most comfortable shoe for me. You can't find them in any store and not always the style you want. BUt I discovered zappos.com and found the style I was looking for and ordered it. I swear, that pair of shoes was on my doorstep the next day. They are incredibly fast. I ordered a 2nd pair awhile back and same thing, they were on my doorstep the next day. I would highly recommend them

Thanks everyone

I will try contacting Minnetonka and share any positive news. Libra, (i'm a Libra too,) and before I found this sandal, had a pair of Borns that were the BEST! A friend found them at a 2nd hand store, brand new! Best walking shoes ever. Sadly my dog ran off with one of them... My shoe karma is not the greatest! I like barefoot best anyway. Ibby

Glad to hear

that all is well in shoe heaven. I've looked at Zappos on-line. For me its sort of like looking at a porn website. I don't even want to go there....but
 My neurologist thinks I'm a riot! Glad somebody's having fun.

Ibby, I took up your suggestion and it was a good one :D

Some shoe facts to contemplate:

The average American woman owns 27 pairs of shoes.
The mature American woman owns 25-50 pairs of shoes.
The average American male owns 12-15 pairs including hiking, and ski boots
The average size of American woman's foot is 8-8.5.
A typical woman spends $277 a year on shoes.
19% of women consider their feet attractive. ?% of males?
23% of American woman have monthly pedicures.
62% of people consider it normal for their feet to hurt.

Imelda Marcos apparently owned more than 1,000 pairs of shoes. I have recently read that she now is limited to wearing orthopedic oxfords ( in all of the colors).

Some woman resort to cosmetic podiatric surgery so that they may fit into the latest Jimmy Choos, or Manolo Blahnik styles. I can vouch for this, as I make my living as a Podiatrist.

The shoe addiction is not gender specific. At last count, I own 23 pairs of shoes including sandals, workout shoes, golf shoes etc. My wife has a separate bedroom for all of her shoes.

Do I hear s second for a trip to the mall later today.

Gary:

Thanks for the stats.... I know I am not alone in my madness. Bette Middler used to say, if you give a girl the right pair of shoes she can go anywhere.

One of my many careers was as a consultant for a closet organizer company. I saw many a desperate tangle of shoes jumbled into the bottom of a closet. When you become the guardian to such worldly wealth it behooves us to manage it properly. Some times I just feel so blessed because all I have to do to be happy is change my shoes.

my motto is "Change your shoes : change your life"

Alls good....love r

I discovered Clarks shoes this year. I never thought shoes could fit so perfectly, as if they were custom made. And they all run true to size.

I buy them on Ebay and save a fortune. I own about ten pair now and finally my feet are well supported and comfortable. All the styles are great: slip ons, oxfords, sneaker types, mary janes, T-straps, sandals.

ECCO shoes are also very good. My T-strap eccos are so great I bought a second pair. I use one pair as slippers. I leave the velcro strap open and can slip in and out easily, but I have lots of support and comfort, which I need at home. (Walking without shoes is very hard for me. )

Lots of room for your toes in ECCO and Clarks.

All of the shoes are light weight, too. I love Ebay!
