off of work

I've been off of work since August of 2014. I fight fibromygia real bad and depression and anxiety. My wife who has bi polar is trying to get me on S.S.I. It is not easy though cause one I am a guy and two some don't think of fibro as a sickness. One a normal day I might be able to get some work done around the house but on a bad day not only I'm I in bed cause of the pain all over my body but I feel like I got the flu bug and it won't go away. I can't even look at light without feeling sick to my stomach. My pain all over my body makes me feel like I got hit by a car while on the way home from doing an extreme work out. My body often also feels like it's on fire and don't even get me started on the brain fog. I used to be able to write movie scripts for fun since I was a teen now I can't even get one page written. We finally got me on insurance. But even the smallest amount of stress sets me off. My wife often jokes about how my job is taking care of her and her mental illness 24/7 and many ways she is right. My wife has had a bad bi polar attack the past two weeks though and something good came out of it. She begin to see what it is like to be in the brain fog and she is now even more determine to get me the help I need. In many ways that has been a God sent. I just wanted to know if there is anyone on here who suffers from fibro who is on SSI and if so how did you guys go about it?

Do you mean SSDI? = https://www.ssa.gov/disabilityssi/
Or SSI? (financial/needs limits) = https://www.ssa.gov/disabilityssi/ssi.html

The sticky threads in the upper section on main SSDI/SSI page have many helpful links & tips -

You can apply for SSDI online, but need to go into your local office to apply for SSI. Making the appointment sets the protected filing date.
