Backpay

New here but not to disability process.. I was approved by ALJ on June 6th waived my SSI last week. Now just waiting on ssdi backpay and or first monthly payment. Still have not received award letter so can't sign up for my children's benefits until I get that award letter.. It has only been 15 days since approval but seems like an eternity.. The wait is driving me CRAZY:mad: like everyone else I need my money like yesterday or before.. Just wandering how long everyone else had to wait for backpay?!? And if I was approved June 6th should I atleast get my first monthly payment in July?!?

I elected direct deposit. My back pay was in my account approximately 3-4 weeks after my ALJ hearing. I received my approval letter approximately 33-40 days after my ALJ hearing.

From all indications, if you elected direct deposit, your $$$ will be deposited faster than a paper check & long before you get your benefit package. However, from my understanding, SS has eliminated paper checks which almost always took longer-months for back pay.

If you elected direct deposit, strongly suggest that you check your account once a week for your "surprise."

30-60 days for first check. 60-90 days for retroactive benefits.

I got my back pay within 30 days in a paper check so right around 30 days. Create an account at SSA.GOV and it will show when it is coming I checked everyday and one day there it was. Good luck.

We got the back pay dollars before we got the award letter. The money came 10 days after favorable decision. Benefit letter arrived the week after we got the money. Hus went to draw out money of our account and said wow- we have a boat load of money....keep checking your account. We signed up on ssa.gov and it wasn't indicated on there before we got our money, but it was there afterwards.

Called locally ss office and they said payment center is working on my attorney fees now so hoping it won't be too much longer.. I also st up my account on ss website still says you are not yet receiving ss benefits?? So it's still the hurry up and wait game..
