2 years...

Today marks the 2 year anniversary of TBI for me. So much of this time is just a blur, so much of it filled with pain, all of it occupied by someone different than I used to be.

Hi roadrunner63,
Thanks for sharing this with us.... it is a milestone for sure! I'm certain a lot of us can relate to the "loss of sense of self" you experience.

Just think about how far this journey has led you in the last 2 years. Hope you continue to recover.

Best Wishes.

Thanks. Coming up on 18 months for me. In Cathy Crimmins' book Where is the Mango Princess she describes how we tend to divide our memories and related experiences to "before and after" which I find myself doing. With this though, I try to remember I have reason to be grateful; I'm still alive after all (not a certain outcome by any means early on), and I have renewed appreciation for how family and friends supported my recovery, and to the medical professionals who saved my life and facilitated my recovery journey.

I have found a lot of the observations in the book What Doesn’t Kill Us: The New Psychology of Posttraumatic Growth to be useful also.

Best to you on your continued recovery.

I guess if I have to find one good thing from this it is that I am able to spend more time with my grandchildren. That is only possible because I am unable to do much work and am on disability.

One week after my 3 year mark I hit my head again and now I am starting all over. Will this endless cycle never end?
