Hi
ive been getting rib pain on n off for many yrs. My last bout lasted 4 mos straight seemed to come on after doing tail Chi class (a lot of ov erhead arm movements)
A rhuematologist told me I had costcochrondritis (inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs n sternum) but there's no test to confirm it. I wasn't told to take anything for this.
what were u told to do for this? If anything
Best wishes

Hello, Firstly thank you for your reply, in the beginning I had extensive Chiropractic treatment, sometimes twice a day, the result being very temporary, until he said he was unable to help me anymore, I find stretching, reaching, sneezing, coughing twisting, sets it off or even just sitting. I sustained this injury 21yrs ago lifting a patient, I was an aged care nurse. You were told right, there is no test that show this & seems we just have too learn to live with it but I have seen where some people have also recovered.
Best wishes to you also I hope you recover.

I had a short bout of costcochrondritis when pregnant in 1982.
Just took aspirin at the time.

But since yours is ongoing it may be triggered by a nerve or possibly triggerpoints in the rib muscles.

Thank you so much for the link, it's very helpful, gives me the information that I needed for my next visit to my GP. My pain is definitely nerve related just need to be able to get through to the medical profession ... much appreciated Jo*mar, thanks.
