Many clinical research studies, including this one, are designed to test investigational medications to determine if they are safe and effective. The Parkinson's Disease Study offers patients an opportunity to potentially optimize their treatment. It is examining the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug for the uncontrolled movements and rigidity caused by levodopa, the most commonly prescribed treatment for Parkinson's disease. The investigational drug attempts to block chemicals in the brain that can contribute to movement disorders.

Study participation provides (at no cost):
frequent study-related medical care and support for up to 18 weeks
potential access to study drug for up to 12 weeks
In addition, some patients may be eligible to participate in a 36-week follow-up study. Everyone who participates in the follow-up study will receive the investigational drug at no cost.
