I had my 33 week appt...

and well that was pointless. He acted like this was my first appt with him. I tried asking some questions but I never really got an answer and, when I asked him to sign the paperwork so I could donate the cord blood to resurch. I got lecture on how importent it is that I save it for my kids if anything happens. I told him that there was noway we could afford the price of it, so I would rather donate it than toss it away. He still was not happy. I am going to switch back to my old doctor that delivered Robert and Hannah.

I just hope that she will take me. I am going to ask when the kids go for there year appt.

Well I have 40 days left, and still have too much to do and get. My yard sale got rained out again so now I am hoping for the 27th. This is my last weekend I can have it because we are going to be gone or busy the rest of the weekends in October.

Well I will update you after my next appt. :D

Geez, Turt, you're right, this doc sounds like a real pain in the backside.

I'm just glad that you and the bun are doing okay, that's the important thing. :)

Hey Turtle! When I had my last child some stupid doctor pulled the lecture mode on me too and even said some pretty mean things to me. I dumped him and told the other docs in the practice that he better not come through the door when I am in labor or the nurse will be delivering my baby.

Good for you for trying to go to your old doctor. 40 days left? Whoohoo!

I have a really 'noobie' question... is saving the chord blood a newer practice? I never knew this was an option. Then again, I have not been pregnant either, and my mother had me in 1977. ;)

I was just wondering when we were going to get an update, Sue.

Glad the little shelled one is doing ok and Mama turtle, too.

Get rid of the mean ole Dr and go w/the one you feel comfortable with.

Keep us posted; love the updates. Take care!

Yeah, it's pretty new over the past few years. And it's rather pricey. ;)

Turtle, hope all goes well in your final 40 days! I'm appalled that you'd get a 'lecture' about saving the cords, geesh! Unless he's planning to foot the bill, he had no right to give you a lecture! I'd be downright mad myself!

Had my last baby in 07, was asked the cord question the same way they ask all kinds of other questions. No lectures, no need to tell about the benefits...

Am looking forward to hearing about your new baby when the time comes

This is ridiculous! They're crying out for donors, yet they're going to charge a mother to save this blood?

They have been doing it for a while. I know when I had my son in 2003 you could have it saved.

It took me almost 5 months to find a company that would take donations I finily got a hole of CryoCell and they gave me a number to call and get all the paperwork sent to me.
Now the hard part get my hubby to sign it and get it mailed in. he keeps thinking that there are going to be little Amie clones running around. I keep telling him he is nuts and that is not going to happen.

To save the cord blood it is like $2000 for the kit to get sent, testing, and then the storage plus every year you have to pay another fee for them to keep it in storage.
boy are they getting rich playing on the fears of familys.

I'm sticking with, that's an outrage and inhumane. :(

Dirty way to make $$$ in my opinion.
