? Re Cultured Coconut Milk

Look at this product

http://turtlemountain.com/products/p..._milk_original

I watched Dr. Oz yesterday and he said:

"Don't drink skim milk, because what do you have when you take the fat out of milk?" Sugar

He then showed the alternatives.

I have Almond Milk.

Never tried Coconut Milk.

Found this product online (which might be sold not too far away from me)

And this product has live cultures.

Is this safe for diabetics?

Thanks to anyone who has tried this.

Why not use Kefir?

Lactose free, gluten free, 12 cultures (far more than yogurt) and comes in many types. I use lowfat unflavored.

Lifeway brand makes a type to suit just about anyone.

compare the coconut milk with kefir:

http://www.lifeway.net/Products/Kefi...wFatPlain.aspx

There is a bit more "sugar" in this, but the ingredient list is much more sensible and natural. Lots of odd ingredients in the cultured coconut milk IMO

The inulin in this can cause GI upset in some people.
The only advantage I see in this one is that it is dairy free.

I have access to kefir all the time.

Is taking a half cup of kefir better than let's say, a half cup of greek yogurt (which I have read has less sugar in it because they drain out the whey??) I read this online the other day. I thought whey was just protein, but from what they wrote "greek yogurt has less sugar than regular yogurt)

They were talking about regular plain (not fruit enhanced)

Thanks,
Melody

I think the amount of sugar is negligible IMO.

The smoothie/flavored ones have more sugar added.

I think the coconut one has lots of added ingredients...to make it thicker etc. If you are not dairy sensitive, why bother where kefir is superior?

I think it is a matter of taste... mostly. And dairy sensitivity.
I wonder what the price difference is?

I'll go shopping and see. When I find out I shall tell you.

Sugar the other A.M.. was 59 (I HAVE NEVER HAD THAT HAPPEN IN MY LIFE). I felt fine but had some juice. I think I lost some weight.

I just went down from the 16 to a 15 and a bit. This morning it was 104. I can live with that. A big change from YEARS AGO when I would wake up and it would be 180. Oh, the memories. But hey, as we get older our bodies change. This might not last but I'm giving it everything I have.

lol

Thanks much my dear Mrs.D

Mrs. D (and everybody)

I made ice cream tonight and we are supposed to add a bit of liquid as a base. I had been using about a half cup of skim milk but I ran out. I said to myself "You have kefir, use that"

Here's what I made

And while I was indicating what I was making, I should have said "Peanut Butter, CHOCOLATE, Banana, Kefir ice cream

OH MY GOD, the taste.

lol

It's all about carbs. Let your meter be your guide as to how it affects YOU!

We are all different, what may spike me may be a blip for you.

I don't want a blip, a flip or a dip.

lol

Made some tonight. It just gets better and better.

If I could go back in time, I would have gotten a vitamix, and made this stuff every night. Could have saved myself a lot of heartache and I just might have not developed diabetes.

But we'll never know.

Better late than never, that's my motto.

Between my sprouting and my vitamixing, I'm just a green machine!!

lol
Take care

Melody
