Bumped back of head on dresser..been 72 hours?
Long story short....I fainted on Thursday night and hit the back of my head into one of our tall dressers. My husband doesnt remember how hard I hit my head but he doesnt think it was hard enough. I didn't vomit, didn't lose consciousness, no blurry vision. I got up, went into bed & just had a headache but that was expexted. Called off from work the next day to rest & to take it easy. Went to the walk in urgent care on Saturday morning and she said it appears I have suffered some mile trauma & prescribed 800mg of ibuprofen which actually works well. If the pressure in my head/headaches still continue I'll gonna see a specialist towards the end of the week.
Question - Since 72 hours has passed, am I no longer in the danger zone? ie brain swelling, etc? How long would these pressure headaches last for? |
Headaches can last long past any danger period. Neck strains can cause headaches. If you do not develop the other symptoms you mentioned, especially quickly and to a serious level, you probably just need to let your body heal.

Head bumping
Not a doctor, but I would strongly suggest you see a specialist ASAP, as you indicated. First question: Why did you faint? Second question: Head bumps are seldom "just" head bumps. Your going to an urgent care center was a good idea, of course, but this needs to be taken more seriously. Good luck.

The fainting might be the main concern, if you don't know why it happened..

Sorry, I neglected to address the factor of the fainting. That is worth investigating.
I have face planted a few times. Likely hypotension (low blood pressure, especially in response to getting up). Lots of tests done. No abnormalities. Benign Orthostatic (or Postural) Hypotension. |
Sorry I fainted due to being dehydrated from a bout of food poison. I'm going to my PCP tomorrow.
