Azathioprine period to become effective

Hello all,

I have not been here for a while as my wife has been trying to come off prednisone by taking azathioprine. What is the average duration it may take for azathioprine to kick in. My wife has managed to taper her prednisone down to 25mg per day and still showing some symptoms. However she's been on azathioprine for 8 months now and it seems like it has not kicked in yet. Anyone here have a similar experience? She was tested and found to be Musk antibody positive.

All the best to everyone, and thanks for a great forum!:)

Ricardo

I have been on Imuran for 9 months now. For a period of time I was also getting IVIG treatments. During the 8th month my vision suddenly got better so we have stopped the IVIG to try and figure out what helped the IVIG or Imuran. It has been a month since we stopped the IVIG so I'm thinking the Imuran has kicked in. It sure is good to have most of my vision back. I went 11 months without driving.
I did have 2 skin cancers removed in about the 4th month of Imuran but not sure it was caused by the Imuran.

Hi Ricardo,
Imuran is reported to take between 6 to 24 months to kick in...

Ricardo- I think it took a good 8 months for me to see the small effects that imuran is having. I think if were able to go on a higher dose due to body weight ratio it would work better...but not happening.
