Beta-Glucan for Anxiety

I have a pretty bad case of anxiety derived from schizophrenia.
Most of my major symptoms are under control except the crazy
extreme anxiety associated with scz.

I have been taking 75mg of Bet-Glucan in the form of maitake extract.
Have been getting surprising results over a period of 3 weeks. This
is not a long enough time but I think it is worth mentioning.
Beta Glucan is an immune stimulant (as stated on bottle)

I took a Beta-Glucan yeast extract 2 months ago and the immediate results
were nothing short of amazing which is why I suspected it might
be a placebo effect. The reason being the effects were not
consistent...I stopped taking them.

In desperation I wanted to give them another try and the only
type I could find was Maitake Gold. I tried 5 caps and again
the same profound results but not everyday. I've had very good
days and average days.

Anyone have any similar results or reliable explanation (besides
placebo)? References on the web make no mention of anything
like this except animated videos on You Tube showing BG
gobbling up immune depressors for dinner.) There is also
the possibility that being a stimulant the effect will wear off
with continued use.
