Milestone day for Victorians
 

Yesterday was a milestone day for Victoria.

Therapeutic cloning of stem cells has been approved in Victorian Parliament. The scientific community is keen to get stem cell research under way.

Victoria is the only state in Australia to allow the use of stem cells for therapeutic cloning thus far.

Hopefully the cure for some degenerative diseases is not far behind.

God, we could learn a thing or two from VICTORIA now can't we???

It sure is great news Aussie, i think it will be only a matter of time before the other states will follow us, it gives so much hope for people that didn't have any before, i think Christopher Reeve's would be smiling from above.:)

site when he, as horse folks call it 'crashed and burned'. He was a very gracious and stubborn person for advocating EVERYTHING to go into this area...

I will NOT talk about the cirumstances of his fall. It was from a lowly volunteer's perspective [before PN] a rather bizarre set of circumstances. I will tell you that in that sport, the way he fell * landed, could not have been avoided with full military body armour on. He got hit at the perfect wrong place from all reports.

I hope that Victoria actually reaps any and all possible financial benefits from any and all medical benefits the whole process entails and can bring to any or all of US! This isn't talk about 'steps for mankind' on the moon! This is true exploration about 'people-self' inside of us! What a place to be when the adventure is beginning and continues!

When I think of Christopher Reeve I could almost cry. What a wonderful and courageous man he was.

In my lifetime, there is nothing more that I would like to see, than to have science cure some of these horrible diseases out there.

I don't care about sending astronauts to Mars, or cultivating vegetables that don't need soil... etc.

This is a big step for mankind indeed Dahlek,as so many governments' have frowned upon stem cell research and so many people continue to suffer in silence as government makes life and death decisions on their behalf.

When I think of him, the Superman I see in my mind's eye was the man after the accident. He was an awesome and brave human being... A real, live Superman...
