Oligodendrogliomas

Hi, I'm Susan. My sister had an oligodendroglioma tumor removed from her left temporal lobe of her brain a few days ago. She visits the oncologist next week to evaluate further treatment options, i.e., radiation and chemo. I'm interested in learning as much as I can about this type of tumor and its care. Any input will be appreciated.

Hi there! I would suggest looking to the American Brain Tumor website (abta.org) as well as the National Brain Tumor Foundation website (NBTF.org or braintumor.org). They were both very helpful to me when I was going through my diagnosis and surgery/recovery for my brain tumor.

What I know about Oligo's is that they are considered low grade tumors (meaning typically benign and not very aggressive). They are not a very common tumor type to have but one of the "better" ones if there is such a thing.

Hi Susan ~ I had a grade II oligo removed Feb., 2006, ..... and I left a message for you in the first board. I'll be back a bit later to add to vodpop's good things.
