Gamma Knife

Has anyone had an atypical result from the gamma knife surgery? Such as head pain, facial pain, or anything else?

Just curious. Also, has it worked for anyone who's had a microvascular compression on the trigeminal nerve?

Thanks.

Hi Omariffic,

I had the gamma knife radiation about a month before I had my microvascular decompression. I'm not sure what you mean by atypical results, but I had always had the sharp stabbing pains before my gamma knife. Afterward, I still had the sharp pains only not as bad, but an intense burning pain started in my jaw, teeth and cheek area which I never had before. Also the back of my head was swollen and painful for a good month after my gamma knife. I was not feeling any better after my gamma knife and that's why I decided to have the mvd procedure done. I hope this helps you.

Laureen
