Sports to play post-PCS?
Been suffering from PCS for a very long time, I used to play extremely high level soccer, where heading is required, my neurologist said it might be fine but I am refusing to take that risk.
Boxing, hockey, football, and sport where head impacts are common is really out of the question for me. Also, running still gives me a headache. I am thinking of swimming, very low impact sport. What about just lifting weights, body building? I still have fairly mild symptoms, which may or may not be PCS related. They do not bother me. |
Take any sport slow. Start with light weights and try to learn to lift without tensing your whole body, especially your neck.
And, try to find a different neuro. Yours is clueless. Never head another soccer ball. |
I can't recall how you sustained your TBI. If your neck is stable, some activities you could consider include golf, yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, archery, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, canoeing, stationary biking and race walking.
However, as Mark said, take it SLOWLY. Some TBI folks find that too much increase in the their heart rate causes headache. Others are too bothered by heat to engage in outdoor activities during the summer months. I hope you find something you can enjoy. |
Cycling may be good however, look into a POC helmet and do not go mountain biking...
