My son's and seizures
 

I thought I'd try to explain the difference between my two son's that have
for sure had seizures.

1. My 18 year old has had seizures since he was in 1st grade he is now a senior. Will be graduating with a certificate of completion this year. Because his seizures have helped bring on developmental delays. Making it that he can't read much more than a early 2nd grade level. He is much smarter than this, but thanks to the old president and the present they wont let our kids have diploma's if they can't read at a higher level. I realize that sounds bad,
but if someone else could do the reading he could do the work.
He also have seizures every month, and at times other problems. He is a fantastic kid and will always tell folks why he wont be one driving. Thankfully he understands it all. I couldn't have asked for a better understanding kid.
He knows that if he gets behind the wheel and hits someone it could be bad.

My second son has had some seizures but his started after he was already driving. He was 18 and had a few accidents, I really couldn't figure out why he was just hitting some odd things. Then one day he let me know that when he saw lights at night he blacked out. And ended up in ditchs. Luckily he never hit another vehicle. But wow, I could have lost this son a coupld of times. It took a while for him to admit this to me. Because he was the one that did the most helping me take care of his brother. And he knew what
the seizures meant for his driving. But it was the doctor that told him if he
continued to drive and hit something. That he would tell the authorities he had been told to not drive. SO it was his choice.

I got lucky he listed to the doctor, I didn't have to take the keys away. He chose to listen and asked for the rides he needed.

But it was really hard, and it was thanks to the first medicine that he was put on in 9 months he could drive again. It took a few to get no seizures and the headaches under control. But the doctor made him stay on the medication another 2 years.

I have another son, who is 26 now at 16 he was put on Depakote ER also
And it was his lifesafer too. He had rages. I swear to this day it was rage seizures. Thankfully there was a answer.
