Bilateral symptoms?
 

I know there have been posts/threads about this, but what has been your experience with bilateral symptoms?

I know someone who said that sometimes she feels like she doesn't have any knees. I said, "You mean, you feel as though your knees will give out on you?" And she said, "No, it's kind of a numbness, or tingly thing...like I can't FEEL them...that they aren't THERE."

I have had MS symptoms on both sides of my body, but not simultaneously in the same body part. Interested in your input.

When I have the Transverse Myelitis (or spinal lesion) attacks, they are usually bilateral. Both sides don't necessarily come on at the same time, and/or necessarily go exactly the same level up my body, but both sides are ultimately fairly equally affected.

The first attack like that started in my left leg, and the paresthesia travelled up to 1/2 way through my breast. I had feeling in the top 1/2, but the gross hypersensitive/buzzing/electric shock, etc. feeling below that level. That was very strange, because for about a day, I was split down the middle the other way too, so that one butt cheek was numb, and 1/2 of most every other part of my body too.

Within a few days, the numbness started to travel up my right foot, but on that side it incorporated my entire breast. I was entirely numb from there down, and then paralyzed for several days. I healed in the basically the same order as it had come on.

Most times my symptoms are bilateral though; both arms hurt, both feet and hands are numb, spasticity occurs in both limbs (arms and/or legs), both sides of my torso are affected. etc. I think the only time I haven't been bilaterally affected is during ON.

When it is from spinal lesions, I think it is dependant on how much of the cord is involved as to whether it gets both sides ...

When I was still having attacks, it was usually on one side or the other. Now I have weaknesses on both sides, with the same sx. My left side is a bit number than the right side, though.

Pain on both sides, worse on my left though.

I get sensory stuff off and on (mostly annoyances, not painful below the neck) on both sides.

One side at a time but dead centre there's a line, especially forehead to nape. Cold feels colder than cold and there's that dog peeing on my leg. But he only ever pees on the right. I have spinal and brain.

I have always said this disease, for me, does not play favorites :rolleyes:

* Bi-lateral leg weakness
* Bi-lateral sensory symptoms of my feet
* Numb from the waist down
* Bi-lateral vibrations/buzzing in legs - can also be from waist down
* Bi-lateral leg pain

Having bi-lateral symptoms is normal for me and has been since my first exacerbation which lead to my diagnosis.

Bilateral leg spasms in the front of each shin...but spasms in back is usually only one side at a time, and not the same area.
The dog wetting on leg thing? I only get that on my left leg.
Such a strange, strange disease.
